Stock

Martina Stock is a visual artist and neoharpist. She pursued her studies at the Mozarteum University of Salzburg, with an Erasmus exchange program in Krakow, the University of the Arts Berlin, and the Faculty of Natural Sciences in Salzburg. In 2009, she successfully completed her studies, earning Master's degrees.

Her works have been shown both nationally and internationally, and she regularly performs concerts as a solo harpist with her own compositions. Currently, she lives and works in Berlin and Bischofshofen, her hometown in Austria near Salzburg.

Her creative work encompasses the fascinating expression of silkscreen on the visual level as well as the concert harp on the auditory level. In combination with loops and electronic sound design she creates a blend of visual and auditory expressions. A universal combination in this form.

She's fascinated by experiencing the artistic world in a wide variety of dimensions and taking viewers and listeners into this world.

"I think in images and speak through music," says Martina Stock — a reflection of her interdisciplinary approach, which merges sound with visual art.

For the director of the Albertina Modern, Angela Stief, this means (exhibition text 100 FEMALE VOICES): "Martina Stock, who paints with squeegee and screen, creates a rich web of relationships that oscillates between past and present, bringing space and time together in a multi-sensory manner. The works, positioned back to back, combine the photographic image with abstract fiction, conveying a strong alliance of women. This project, conceived as a total work of art, does not seek to define a feminine aesthetic, but instead creates a multi-faceted narrative with numerous fractures and tensions employing portraits to map, reflect, and revise time and ages. Relating stories from a different perspective also means posing questions."
